Fetch, a game that dogs never get tired of!
Fetch is one of the most exciting and best games to drain your dog’s energy. The rules of this game are very simple and convenient. You throw a ball, doll, toy, etc. Then the dog has to chase it and bring it to you. This game encourages dogs to run and drain energy. Although it’s better if it is outdoors, it can also be played in apartments and houses. Basic commands are also used in this game:
- Ask the dog to sit down, then throw the ball. When the dog brings it to you, tell him to “throw it” or “leave it”.
- The good thing about this game is that you don’t have to do much activity. You can sit in a corner and throw the ball at your dog every time!
Climbing up and down the stairs, sports, fun and games!
A very simple and free way to drain the dog’s energy is to play stairs! Even if you live in an apartment, you can use the stairs of the apartment and encourage the dog to climb up and down. Or make a ladder by putting pillows, boxes or different items together! But be careful that the stairs are safe enough and don’t cause damage to the dog. For this game, you have to be your creativity:
You can combine a fetch game with climbing the stairs. Put your dog’s doll on the stairs and ask him to bring it to you. Or enter the game yourself, go up the stairs and tell him “come”. Of course, the dog must know how to climb up and down the stairs well. This game isn’t suitable for small puppies at all. Also, some dwarf dogs, such as Dachshund or Corgi, don’t know how to climb up and down the stairs because of their short legs and may injure themselves.

- Don’t put the dog on the treadmill all at once. First, let your dog get used to it and its sound.
- Then put the dog on the treadmill and encourage him.
- Now set it to the slowest position. The dog may be scared and jump down at first, but encourage him to stay.
- After several exercises, the dog will probably learn to walk on it.
- When the dog gets used to this stage, increase the speed a little.
- Always be on around the dog yourself. Never leave the dog on a treadmill alone, as it may injure him.
- This activity is very suitable for draining the energy of energetic dogs such as German Shepherds, Huskies, etc.
