What Humans Do That Dogs Hate

If you want to be the best friend of your dog, you must know how to treat them. Here are many things you can do to make your dog happy, such as dog grooming, taking a walk, bathing them, or playing with them. But did you know that there are things humans do that dogs hate? Here are things you might not know your dog hates.

What Humans Do That Dogs Hate

Dogs hate when humans talk too much

We like talking a lot, but don’t forget that dogs don’t understand much of our words. They understand some phrases like walk, go, sit, good boy, good girl, toy, etc. Therefore, use more body language for talking to your dog. Try not to talk to your dog for a whole day and use body movement to tell her/him what to do.

Hugging your dog drives them crazy

We love to wrap our arms around dogs and give them a lot of love. But it is interesting to know that most dogs hate it when humans hug them.

The reaction dogs show when being hugged are different; some dogs will try to tolerate these behaviours of you by patience, but some other dogs might feel threatened and bite you. Their behaviour in this situation also varies from person to person. A dog might be more gentle with a family member while being hostile with another member of the same family.

Dogs hate being patted on their faces and heads

This is another surprising fact about dogs. But the truth is that no one, even you, likes it when touched on head or face. No matter how much love and feeling lies behind this act, it is not comfortable.

Dogs will normally retreat their heads when a hand approaches them there, and most likely will be stressed and feel uncomfortable. Instead, try petting them on their belly and back. I promise they will be thankful for this.

A stranger looking at a dog’s eyes, makes them stressed out

We all know what power is being held by the eyes. Staring and looking straight into someone’s eyes makes the other person nervous. This is also true about dogs. Dogs hate it most when a stranger does it because they think that the stranger wants to control them. The thought of being controlled by someone other than their human is horrifying for dogs.

A lawless and chaotic life scares dogs

Even in packs of dogs, there are rules and policies. A need for law and order is felt even more in pets. You might mistakenly think that rules bore dogs, but it is interesting to know that dogs are always looking towards following someone orderly and more powerful than themselves. Dogs, just like children, need to be orderly to avoid growing any destructive behaviour in them.

Dogs hate it when you force them to befriend other animals and humans

Just like humans, dogs can hate or love other people and animals, based on the first impressions they receive from them. How a dog treats a person, or an animal makes it obvious how they like them. So if your dog is not interested in someone, don’t force them to befriend them. This behaviour not only is cruel but also makes your dog grow mental issues and develop destructive behaviours.

Walking with no chance to explore makes dogs depressed

Dogs love walking, not just because they love to walk. They love it for the chance it gives them to explore the world outside.

If you take a walk in a straight road, with no diversity in daily walks and don’t let your dog go around and explore, the walking becomes a tedious act of mandatory everyday routine. Of course, don’t let your dog explore the world by themselves, but be there, guiding them and controlling them in their exploration. They need to know there are rules.

A tight collar drives your dog crazy

Dogs need to have collars, but the collar must be loose and comfortable. When you fasten the collar tight, this gives the dog a signal of your stress and nervousness. You might say that you do it because of the safety of your dog, but believe me with a comfortable collar, the dog with stay as safe as with a tight one.

Dogs hate to get bored

Who doesn’t? Dogs and children have similar motives and concerns, and one of the biggest concerns of them is to have someone to play with them. Just like a child when bored, A dog will whine and nag, show signs of impatience, and asks you to play with them.

Always remember that owning a pet is as sensitive and difficult as having a child. So treat your dog as you would treat your child, i.e., play with them.

Teasing and annoying your dog is what makes them hate you

Most of the things that seem to you funny make your dog sad and puts them down. Pulling the dog’s tail, imitating a dog bark when they are crossing the street (because they need to focus), calling their names with no purpose, and many other ridiculous things, makes your dog sad, and in the long term, they will develop hatred towards you. Treat your dog the way you wish others treat you.
